Pentacle
It is a five pointed star with a circle around it. Usually placed in the upright position with the single point at the top. It represents the five elements, Earth, air, fire, water and spirit. It can be worn, carved in wood, painted on an altar cloth. In the upright position it is considered feminine and represents the earth. I point the top to the North where I begin. I have a small wooden disc with a pentacle engraved on it. I place my small cauldron in the center of the disc when I burn my herbs for a spell or ritual.
