Ritual Dagger. Commonly used to call the quarters and cast circles. Commonly has a black handle, double bladed, mine is usually dulled because it is not used to cut or stab anything. Your athame should appeal to you and have significance for you. My first athame was an Isis letter opener, my second athame was a decorative and large costly dagger made of metal with a decorative metal sheath. The handle was studded with blue stones made of glass. My current athame is a cheap boot dagger with the greenman face near the black handle. It is significant to me none-the-less.
